Bahama Bound with the ‘rents~ with Mary Langworthy

Mary Langworthy spent her sophomore year of High School on the 36′ White Seal sailboat, a very little boat to share with one’s parents on a long trip.  Highlighted by some of the 7,985 pictures taken during the trip. Langworthy will talk about the trip that took her from Sept. 2010 to May 2011, from Lake Champlain to the InterCoastal Waterway on to the Bahamas and back.  Now a senior at Vergennes Union High School, Mary reflects on the life changing effects of that trip, the knowledgeshe gained from those travels and some of the downright wacky experiences shared with her parents.  She will share important survival tips like how to exist 65 dayswithout a shower, how to eat without refrigeration and how to celebrate like the "native" at Junkanoo.  Langworthy will also address other questions about how to survive weeks without doing a load of laundry, what’s a cruiser’s Thanksgiving and how to attain peaceful coexistence with your parents on a sailboat for 9 months.  A time for questions and light refreshments will follow the presentation.

This program is free and open to the general public.
