We are updating our card catalogue to meet present day needs… Automation is coming!

Card CataloguePictured here is the antique card catalogue that has served Bixby Library well for many years. We are presently still using this card catalogue but  We are also in the process of updating to an on-line catalogue system. An automation committee along with the Bixby staff and volunteers are at work on this project behind the scenes.

They have acquired scanners, created workstations, met numerous times with our state library consultant and trained interested volunteers to assist staff  in cataloging and data entry. It will take time for library staff to prepare this new system. More information will be coming as we find our way through this much needed service.

January Update:

As of  January 20,  we have entered over 25,924  Marc records of items from our collection into our on-line catalogue/ Library World.  Thanks to the efforts of our staff and community members/volunteers who have worked diligently on this very long project. We plan to have the main collection completed by the the date we go live.  We plan to go live April 9th, 2012 and will be available for public use in the library.  Patrons will eventually be able to check the catalog and reserve items from home.  Thanks for your patience and support.
