Michelle LaBombard Tea Art Display
July 15 - July 20
I enjoy finding the beauty in everyday objects and rituals. one of those rituals for me is tea.
I began making these decorative wall hangings out of curiosity. I wanted to see how the image would be enhanced and/or changed by applying basic quilting techniques. By cutting, dyeing, and quilting, new patterns and highlights emerged.
Most pieces were constructed using tea dyed cotton, dowels, and twine. There is a barrel lid for fun. All feature paper wrappings from pu-erh tea cakes.
What began out of a whim to see what could be made from scraps has become what you see on the walls. Enjoy them, feel free to sign the guest book, but please do not touch them.
Art work is on display in the Community Room.
