The state is providing regular updates at the: Vermont Department of Health website, https://www.healthvermont.gov/response/infectious-disease/2019-novel-coronavirus and national resources are also available at cdc.gov as well as curated information from the Vermont Department of Libraries at https://libraries.vermont.gov/covid19.
You may notice some changes here at the Bixby and in our community as we prepare for a Covid-19 outbreak. Continue to be kind and respectful to one another and thank you for all that you do and don’t do to care for one another.
Below if the Bixby’s Pandemic Preparedness Plan
As of 3/16/2020 the Bixby is:
-Allowing for modified self-check out – limited exchange of materials between staff and patrons
-Canceling all overdue notices – we don’t want sick patrons bringing back materials
-We are telling all volunteers to stay home
-No more Inter Library Loan requests
-No appointments to view historical documents until April 1
-No shared food or drink in the library or at events
If the schools close:
-We will cancel all events and outreach until May 1
-We will close the building on Tuesday March, 17th and remain closed until April 6th.
-Staff will be onsite on Mondays from 12-5 and Thursdays from 10-5 so long as we are healthy, to prepare “Care Packages” of books, help patrons over the phone and work on projects.
-If a staff member or their family is ill we will halt all work that must be done in the building.
