Book Discussion Group – Stay With Me
January 13, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
January title: Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo
“lesa, Nigeria. Ever since they first met and fell in love at university, Yejide and Akin have agreed: polygamy is not for them. But four years into their marriage—after consulting fertility doctors and healers, and trying strange teas and unlikely cures—Yejide is still not pregnant. She assumes she still has time—until her in-laws arrive on her doorstep with a young woman they introduce as Akin’s second wife. Furious, shocked, and livid with jealousy, Yejide knows the only way to save her marriage is to get pregnant. Which, finally, she does—but at a cost far greater than she could have dared to imagine. The unforgettable story of a marriage as seen through the eyes of both husband and wife, Stay With Me asks how much we can sacrifice for the sake of family.”
An ongoing book discussion group will meet the second Monday of every month from 7-8 pm in the Vermont Room. The group is entirely volunteer-led and is always open to the public. Check the event calendar to find out which book the group will be reading. Please contact Devin Schrock, lvnfree@gmail.com if you are planning to attend so we know how many books to request! The library provides multiple copies of the selected title, these are available on a first come first serve basis for Bixby patrons to check out.
Upcoming February title: Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown
