Celebrating the 7th Annual LEGO Contest

On Saturday, March 1st, the Bixby Memorial Free Library and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Vergennes showcased the creativity of the community at their 7th Annual LEGO Contest.

With 44 entries across 8 age groups, this year’s contest brought out impressive designs and imaginative storytelling included intricate builds of Main Street, Bixby Library, and a replica of Planet Earth! The participants amazed both judges and spectators with their originality, presentation, spatial complexity, and vibrant use of color.

Esteemed judges Kevin Moyer, Owner of Vermont Frames & Foam Laminates, Erin Roche, Vermont Director of First Children’s Finance and President of the Bixby Library’s Board of Trustees, and Amber Lay, Assistant Director & Adult Services Librarian at the Bixby Memorial Free Library carefully evaluated each entry, making the tough decisions to determine this year’s winners:

Pre-K: Amos Roorda

Grades K – 2nd: Nigel Pluss

Grades 3rd – 5th: Corbin Jimerson-Smith

Grades 6th – 8th: Westin Maheu

Teen/YA: Reese Lisko, Adult: Bryan Sawyer

Adult & Child: Keegan Lisko and Brian Lisko

Mixed Ages: Theodore, Franklin, and Emily Packard

The winners from each age group walked away with impressive LEGO kits sponsored by Roundtree Construction.

“This is something we look forward to every year… They’ve been building LEGOs all week instead of watching TV, “commented the parent of two LEGO competitors. When asked why they loved the LEGO Contest, participants and spectators wrote “because I like to build them!!!” “I get to see the creativity of the local youth!” And,“each creation brings JOY!”

The Annual LEGO Contest continues to provide a platform for children, teens, and adults to flex their creativity and build from their imagination. Until next year, happy building.
