Book Discussion Group – Born a Crime
May 13, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
May title: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
“This is the perfect book for our times: We all need a good laugh, some no-nonsense inspiration, and to (as Booklist put it in their review) “deepen our perception of the complexities of race, gender, and class.” Trevor Noah – best known as the host of The Daily Show – gives us all three, packaged in brilliant storytelling. If you enjoy The Daily Show, you’ll love this book. If you don’t watch The Daily Show, you should still read this book (and it will likely convince you to become a devoted viewer).”
An ongoing book discussion group will meet the second Monday of every month from 7-8 pm in the Vermont Room. The group is entirely volunteer-led and is always open to the public. Check the event calendar to find out which book the group will be reading. Please contact Devin Schrock, lvnfree@gmail.com if you are planning to attend so we know how many books to request! The library provides multiple copies of the selected title, these are available on a first come first serve basis for Bixby patrons to check out.
Upcoming June title: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
