VT-ALERT & CARE Registry Sign Up Drive

March 8 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

On Saturday, March 8th at the Bixby Library, the Vermont Health Department will offer information on essential emergency preparedness tools. Volunteers from the Vermont Health Department and Vermont’s Medical Reserve Corps will be available to help Vermonters understand and enroll in VT-ALERT and CARE Registry.

VT-ALERT is used by the state and local responders to notify the public of emergency situations.  Those include, but are not limited to, evacuation information; chemical spills; shelter-in-place alerts; severe weather advisories; boil water advisories, and roadway interruptions.  Residents can tailor the alerts to specific locations, types of alerts and on which devices they will be notified.

The Citizens Assistance Registry for Emergencies (CARE) program was created to help emergency responders identify Vermonters who might need additional assistance in case of a wide-scale event.??Ice storms, floods, fires, major traffic accidents, and similar events can cause power outages, isolate individuals, or prompt the need for evacuation. If prolonged, these events may become life-threatening for people with certain disabilities or other circumstances.

Find out how you, or someone you know, can sign up for VT-Alerts and the CARE registry on March 8th at the Bixby Library.
