Children’s Programs

Storytime

Join the Children’s Librarian each Friday morning from 10:30–11:00 am at the Bixby Library for stories, songs, rhymes, and play. This program is designed for preschool-aged children and their caregivers. Kids of all ages are welcome!

Craft of the Week

Visit the Children’s Room each week for a new craft activity! Make the craft at the library or take-and-make at home.

Young Writers Club

The Young Writers Club is held the first Saturday of the month in the Bixby’s Vermont Room. The club works on fun and informal writing activities. This program is recommended for elementary school-aged children.

LEGO Robotics Club and FIRST LEGO Robotics Team

FIRST LEGO brings age-appropriate engineering skill development and computational thinking using flexible curriculum resources. The teams meet at the library weekly to work on a LEGO robotics project with a final competition in Spring. Through the club, kids learn vital skills including problem-solving, teamwork, robotics, and programming. This program is funded thanks to a grant from RTX-Raytheon. If you’re interested in participating as a team member or mentor, please contact us in July for more information.

Summer Reading Program

Every year from June-August, kids ages pre-K to Grade 8 can participate in the Summer Reading program, Booked for Bikes! Pick up your entry forms from the Bixby. After logging five entries, you will be entered into the drawing to win the Grand Prize for a bike or a Kindle! Every entry also enters you into our weekly drawings to win prizes. This program is made possible through a longstanding partnership with the Vergennes Rotary.

Outreach

Outreach services are available to registered and certified childcare facilities in the Addison Northwest District from the Bixby Library. Services include the delivery of books and other materials for loan, as well as storytime. For more information about the Childcare Outreach Program, please call the library at (802) 877-2211.
